Forest School Leader - closing 11/11/2024
Balfour Primary School requires an enthusiastic, committed person to help deliver our Nature School provision, working with children (in small and large groups) including those with SEN needs. Working in a team of two, you will be someone who has a keen interest and understanding of the Natural world and sustainability and have the skills to work with children from YR to Y6. Our Nature School is an established part of our provision and the role includes supporting its further development. Current facilities include:
- Wildlife area with pond
- Covered shelter
- Dedicated Woodland
- Nature site across the school grounds.
You should be:
- Forest School Trained (level 3 preferable)
- Confident in using tools
- Creative
- Flexible and adaptable
- To be able to work outside in all weathers all year round
- Belief in the Forest School ethos
Balfour Primary School is a thriving and vibrant school at the heart of the Surrenden Campus serving the Preston Park, Fiveways and Hollingbury communities. Our school is a large primary school with nearly 700 pupils on roll. We are very proud of:

Hours: The post holder will be expected to work Wednesday - Friday term time only. 8:15am – 15:45. (18:45/wk)
Salary: The starting salary is NJC Scale 4a. (£26,409 – 26,835) pro rata, or NJC Scale 5 (£28,163-£30,060) pro rata – depending on experience.
Starting: ASAP
Term: This is initially a fixed term position until 31st August 2026 but it is hoped it will continue beyond that.

Finance Officer - closing 5/11/24
Balfour Primary School requires a detail oriented, enthusiastic, reliable and flexible Finance Officer with excellent IT skills from 2nd January 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support with school finances, whilst also providing exceptional customer service to our families, students, staff and other stakeholders.
Although having experience in a school setting is advantageous, it is not required. We are more focused on finding the perfect person for this role – we can teach you all of the school-specific stuff. Showing up reliably every day with a good attitude, a hard-working ethos, and a can-do team spirit is critical.
Candidates should be able to provide evidence of:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding knowledge of a range of ICT packages, particularly Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented
- Commitment to child-centred education
- An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and able to use their own initiative
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Flexible and adaptable
- Willingness to provide first aid (training will be provided)

The administrative team forms a foundation which supports all other functions within the school.
